My piece is about a guy called Liam who is stuck at home regretting his life choices. There are two scenes in this short film. The first scene is about Liam’s last day at high school. The second scene takes place 3 months later when Liam is all on his own regretting his life choices. Rather than only having one big theme of isolation, I wanted to use several themes including friendship and depression. I got some inspiration from my last day at secondary school like signing yearbooks. For those of you asking if the first scene was filmed on location, yes it was. I filmed it outside a building known as ‘The Pavillion’ in Soham. Creating this project from home wasn’t too difficult. Some of it was actually easier done from home like filming the second scene because I could use an actual bedroom. However, there were struggles too doing it from home. Editing was particularly difficult from home because I didn’t have access to ‘Final Cut Pro’ or ‘Adobe Premiere Pro’ which are both better than the video editor that comes with Windows 10. I'm an aspiring film and TV actor. Obviously the role of an actor is to act. However, it's always useful to have a basic insight of what happens behind the camera like screenwriting, cinematography and editing. I also enjoy screenwriting. It's all great that I know what I want to do as a career but there is a very important question. How will I get there? Do I study at uni? Do I get training at drama school? Or do I just get straight into it? College and Bedazzle have helped me answer this question. Now I know that drama school or any other sort of vocational training is the best route for me. I feel that Cambridge Regional College is inclusive. I do Bedazzle every Thursday and Friday and they specialise in helping people with special needs like myself to get into the performing arts industry. They have an agency who I'm with. Although I have autism, I never give up with my career in acting. In my opinion, performing arts is for anyone who's passionate about it, so Autism or other special needs should not be a barrier. I'm proud of my achievements.
